Cookie policy

A small number of cookies, none of them for advertising.

Last updated: May 2026.

In short

  • We use a handful of cookies, mainly to remember whether you have dismissed the cookie banner.
  • We do not use cookies for advertising or marketing.
  • We do not allow third-party advertising networks to set cookies through this site.
  • You can switch most cookies off at any time using the banner, or in your browser’s settings.

1 · What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It can be used to remember preferences (light or dark mode), keep you logged in, or measure how visitors use the site. Some cookies are essential for a website to work; others are optional and require your consent under UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

2 · The cookies we set

We set only the following cookies on this website:

  • tb-cookies-acked — essential · stores your response to the cookie banner so we don’t ask you on every visit · stored for 12 months in your browser’s localStorage. Not used to identify you.
  • tb-analytics (optional, off by default) — first-party · counts visits to our pages, anonymously, with IP addresses truncated. Set only if you click Accept all. Stored for 14 months.
  • tb-prefs (optional) — first-party · remembers small visual preferences such as a request for a larger font. Stored for 12 months.

We do not set any third-party cookies on this site. We deliberately do not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising network tag.

3 · Third-party content

A few pages load fonts from Google Fonts and icon styles from Cloudflare’s CDN. These services may log your IP address when delivering the content, in accordance with their own privacy notices. They do not, to our knowledge, set cookies for this delivery.

4 · Switching cookies off

You can switch off the optional cookies at any time by clicking Essential only on the cookie banner, or by clearing the tb-cookies-acked entry from your browser’s storage to see the banner again. You can also block cookies entirely in your browser’s settings, although this may stop a few small things working as intended.

5 · Changes to this policy

If we ever add a new cookie — for example, to support a new feature — we will update this list and ask for your consent again before setting any non-essential cookie. We will also flag the change in the next quarterly dispatch.

6 · Contact

If you have any question about our cookie practice, please write to [email protected]. If you remain dissatisfied, the ICO supervises both UK GDPR and PECR — see ico.org.uk or ring 0303 123 1113.
