The plain rules of this website.

Last updated: May 2026.

In short

  • This website is published by Lady Clementina I Tottenham’s Bequest (charity no. 220026).
  • The text and photographs belong to the bequest unless stated. You may quote up to a paragraph with a credit.
  • Donations are usually non-refundable once we have spent them; we will refund a mistaken gift if you write within 14 days.
  • We are not liable for any damage caused by linking to other websites.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

1 · About these terms

This page sets out the terms on which we publish the website at tottenhambequest.org. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.

2 · Who we are

This website is operated by Lady Clementina I Tottenham’s Bequest (“we”, “us”, “the bequest”), a charity registered in England and Wales (charity no. 220026), with its registered office at 6 Holly Gardens, Burton, Christchurch, BH23 7JD. Our principal contact email is [email protected].

3 · Intellectual property

Unless we say otherwise, all text, photographs, illustrations, and design elements on this website are the property of the bequest, or are used with the permission of the people in them. You may quote up to a paragraph of our prose, and reproduce a single photograph at low resolution, with a clear credit to Lady Clementina I Tottenham’s Bequest and a link to the page concerned. For any other use, please write to [email protected] and ask. We have always said yes to reasonable requests from parish magazines, local history groups, and academic researchers.

4 · Use of the website

You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to misuse it (for example, by attempting to harm it, by scraping it commercially, or by submitting false information through the forms). You may link to any page on the site provided the link is not misleading.

5 · Donations

Donations to the bequest are made for the support of the maintenance of the churchyard at St Luke’s, Burton. Once we have applied your gift to a specific item — for example, lime mortar — the gift is treated as spent and is non-refundable. If you have made a donation in error (a duplicate, a typo on the amount, a wrong card) please write to [email protected] within 14 days and we will refund it, less any irrecoverable card processing fee.

If you have given a Gift Aid declaration, please tell us within 30 days if you cease to be a UK taxpayer or your circumstances change, so that we can stop claiming Gift Aid on your future gifts.

6 · Volunteering & events

Attendance at our working mornings and events is at your own risk. We do not provide personal accident insurance for volunteers. We provide gloves, tools and tea; you provide stout shoes and common sense. We can refuse attendance if a volunteer poses a risk to themselves or others.

7 · Links to other websites

We link to other websites where it is useful — the Charity Commission, the ICO, the Ancient Yew Group, Caring for God’s Acre, and the like. We have no control over the content of those sites and are not liable for any loss arising from your use of them.

8 · Disclaimer

We try to keep this website accurate, but we cannot guarantee it is error-free. The information here is provided in good faith; please do not rely on it as legal, financial, or technical advice. If you spot an error, please tell us at [email protected] and we will fix it.

9 · Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any indirect, consequential, or economic losses arising from your use of this website. Nothing in these terms excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

10 · Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time, and the revised version will be marked with a new date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after the date of revision constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11 · Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising under them.

12 · Contact

For any question about these terms, please write to the trustees at 6 Holly Gardens, Burton, Christchurch BH23 7JD, or email [email protected].
